Recovery is a deeply personal and transformative journey toward healing and growth, not a linear process but a unique ever evolving experience.
At the Recovery Training Institute that understanding matters, because recovery is not confined to one experience, one profession, one service, or one system.
It includes healing, growth, connection, belonging, purpose, participation, relationships, joy, possibility, and the ongoing process of building and connecting the parts of life that make it fully worth living.
Recovery belongs to the people experiencing it.
No single profession, system, organization, model, or trend gets to define recovery for everyone else. Our role is not to claim ownership over recovery. Our role is to keep learning from it.
We learn from lived recovery experience, professional practice, research, community, culture, treatment, recovery coaching, workplaces, correctional care, disability care, health care, and other places where people are continually learning what helps, what gets in the way, and what deserves a closer look.
Those perspectives draw our attention to different solutions for the same problem. We think that matters.
RTI brings together instructors from both within and outside the Institute, with experience drawn from the organizations, professions, systems, and communities where they are actively working.
They bring the work they have done, the systems they have worked inside, the mistakes they have made, the people they have learned from, and the questions they are still asking.
The office team sees the training from another angle.
They work across courses and hear from learners, instructors, organizations, and partners in different settings. That gives them a view of what keeps coming up, where people are getting stuck, what needs to be clearer, and where the training itself needs to evolve.
