The webinar examined how the reintroduction of culture and ceremony can support healing and long-term recovery. It also provided insight into the historical and cultural contexts that shape Indigenous experiences with addiction, as well as core approaches to healing rooted in Indigenous worldviews.

The session was led by Tanya Ward-Schur, MA, RCP, Canadian Trainer with White Bison Inc.

  • The intergenerational effects of colonization across seven generations of Indigenous peoples
  • Indigenous perspectives and worldviews related to addiction and recovery
  • Core healing approaches grounded in culture, ceremony, and community
  • The importance of cultural understanding in supporting recovery journeys
