Course Overview

Empower Pathways: An Introduction to Recovery-Informed Practices is structured into four progressive units:

Introduction to Recovery-Oriented Systems of Care (ROSC)

Introduce core principles that guide recovery-oriented approaches. We'll explore the framework of ROSC, its emergence as a transformative model, and real-world examples of ROSC in action.

Foundations in Addiction and Recovery

Delve into the neurobiology of addiction and the transformative journey of recovery. We’ll also introduce the concept of recovery capital, an essential resource for supporting sustained recovery, and provide tools for assessing and building it.

Clinical Perspectives and Evidence-Based Approaches

Explore clinical perspectives and evidence-based practices in recovery-oriented care. Topics include treatment planning, relapse prevention, trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, and more.

The Therapeutic Community Model

Learn about the principles, structures, and operational practices that define Recovery Communities (RC) and Therapeutic Living Units (TLUs). Reflect on how material covered in earlier units can be applied in specialized recovery-oriented settings.

What to Expect

Course Delivery

This course is delivered entirely online and asynchronously, with an estimated completion time of 20 hours. Learners have 90 days from the date of enrollment to complete the course. Those enrolled through an educational institution, employer, or therapeutic program should adhere to any timeline requirements set by their supervisor.
